What is Massage Therapy?

What are the benefits of Massage Therapy?

How much does it cost?

Our pricing varies depending on treatment time. Our pricing is as follows: a 30-minute session is $70, a 60-minute session is $115, and a 90-minute session is $160. If you have any further questions about services or pricing, please feel free to ask!

What if I’m not comfortable during treatment?

Please inform me if you feel that the room is too hot or cold, if you experience any pain, or if you have any questions about the massage. Additionally, don’t hesitate to mention anything you may have forgotten to discuss during the consultation. Your comfort is our priority!

Can I get a receipt for my treatment?

Absolutely! I provide receipts to all my clients for their treatments. If you need one, just let me know, and I'll be happy to assist you.

Can you directly bill my insurance company?

This will depend on your insurance policy. I can directly bill for most insurance companies (Great West Life, Blue Cross, Chamber of Commerce, Manulife, Sunlife, Johnson’s Insurance, Standard Life, Desjardins Insurance, Industrial Alliance and etc).

Do I have to be undressed during the massage?

No, your comfort is our priority. You should dress to your comfort level, as my clinic is a safe and supportive space. While some techniques may work better with lotion/gel/oil applied to the skin, the massage can be easily adapted to work over clothing. If you prefer to remain clothed, I suggest wearing loose shorts and a muscle shirt or sports bra.

Does what I say during treatment and personal information stay confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a key aspect of my practice. Anything you share during your session will remain private and will not be disclosed to anyone unless you express something incriminating or that poses a danger to yourself or others. By law, your information will only be released with your written consent or in the case of a medical emergency where it's necessary for your care.

How often should I get a massage?

The frequency of massage treatments depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you're dealing with a serious condition or recovering from a major accident, you may require 2 to 3 sessions per week. In other cases, massage may be needed only once or twice a month based on your symptoms. Many people choose to have a monthly massage as a preventative measure to maintain flexibility and avoid pain. Ultimately, the decision on how often you receive a massage is yours, based on what works best for your body.

Is massage therapy safe for everyone?

Massage therapy is generally safe for most people. However, it’s important to consult with your healthcare provider or discuss any medical conditions with your therapist before starting treatment. Conditions like severe osteoporosis, blood clotting disorders, or certain heart conditions may require special care or modifications to your massage.

What should I expect during my first massage therapy session?

During your first session, I will conduct a brief consultation to understand your needs, medical history, and any areas of concern. We will then customize the treatment based on this information. The session will involve either full-body or targeted massage, depending on your preferences and goals. You will be able to communicate any discomfort during the treatment so adjustments can be made.

How should I prepare for a massage therapy session?

There is no special preparation needed for a massage therapy session. Simply wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes, and make sure to communicate any concerns or areas of focus. It’s a good idea to stay hydrated before and after your session to help your body flush out toxins and promote relaxation.

What are some common after-effects of a massage?

After a massage, it’s normal to feel relaxed or even a little tired. Some people may experience mild soreness, especially if deep tissue work was performed. Drinking plenty of water and stretching lightly can help alleviate any soreness. If you have any concerns after your treatment, don’t hesitate to reach out.

What types of massage techniques do you offer?

I offer a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, sports massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and more. Depending on your needs, I can recommend the most effective technique or blend of techniques to help you achieve your wellness goals.

How long should I wait to get a massage after an injury or surgery?

The timing of post-injury or post-surgery massage depends on the nature of the injury or procedure and your recovery progress. It’s important to consult with your doctor before beginning massage therapy to ensure it won’t interfere with your healing process. I can help with rehabilitation once you’re cleared to receive treatment.

Do you have discounts or special offers?

Yes, I offer a special 10% discount for Nurses, Personal Support Workers and Teachers in recognition of their hard work and dedication. It’s a small way to say thank you for all that they do. Students can also receive a 10% discount — just show a valid student ID at your appointment. If you're eligible, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to apply the discount to your session!

Do I need to fill out any forms before coming to the first visit?

Yes, I highly recommend you fill out the form, it's important to fill out the intake form before your first visit. This allows me to gather essential information about your health history, preferences, and any areas of concern. By completing the form in advance, I can save time during your session and focus more on your treatment, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.

What are your Work Hours & Holiday Availability?

I am available Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. I also work on most holidays, but my availability may vary. For up-to-date holiday hours, please check my website or the online booking service.

Do you treat injuries from motor vehicle accidents (MVAs)? What types of injuries do you treat?

Yes, I treat injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents (MVAs). One of the most common injuries I address is whiplash, which often affects the neck and upper back. Additionally, I provide care for other soft tissue injuries, muscle strains, and pain associated with MVA-related trauma. If you're recovering from an accident, I can tailor a treatment plan to support your rehabilitation and ease your discomfort.
